You are the CEO of your life!

When you see your life falling apart. Things are not working out. Projects are pending. Finances are not moving. You wonder: Shall I just wait for a miracle or what? It is normal to face such stages in life. But what is disappointing is the person knowing the potential to do something about it but decides not to for whatever reasons.

Life is a mixture of many things to do and areas to dive into. A common trait I observe is the focusing only on one part and ignore the rest. This is when you have the lack of balance in life. How do you balance your life? Our life consists of many areas like social, career, spiritual, fun, education and personal growth areas. If we focus on one and ignore others, that is where you see things falling apart for you.

It is tricky to balance it all especially with our fast paced life. To do well in this, there are few steps you can take.

First, write down your projects, goals and the important things you need to focus on for the short-term and long-term. If we have our written planners for the weekly, monthly and yearly, you start to see things fall into the right places and times.

Second, put deadlines for your goals and keep your goals specific and to the point. Sometimes when we work with vague goals and no deadlines, you see yourself working but not achieving much.

Third, prioritize your tasks and projects. There is no such a thing called you doing it all. It is all about prioritizing. What matters to you in your life right now? The level of importance could be different for the different areas of your life. But knowing the priority level can give you a clue which area to put more of your efforts and which one to put less.

Fourth is track the actions you took. What are the tasks completed? How much time it took you to complete those tasks? What are the pending tasks? What can you do to create momentum and progress for the pending tasks? Tracking can be in whatever form or method you choose. For example I like to check off boxes in my to-do-list in my journal for the weekly, monthly and yearly tasks. That shows me the tasks I completed and the pending ones from a micro and macro level.

Lastly, having a vision for your future life and a direction of how you are going to reach there is a valuable skill. Rare people do it because it feels comfortable to do the same thing and stay in the same spot. But when you sit with yourself and you find out the current actions you are doing don’t resonate with your truth and heart, it is time to take action and be in charge.
