When we stop caring..

Caring about things in life such as wellbeing, growth, personal transformation and others is natural. When you are born, you are curious. You wanna know about the world, about people you interact with and about your interests and motivations. But later in life, sometimes we stop caring. Why? It could be a change in perspective, a shift in priorities or an adjust in a stage of your life.

Then people in our life come along and ask. What happened to you? You changed a lot! You are so quite and alone. People just don’t like change and when they see a change in you, they comment.

The caring at work takes more of my attention. That’s the place we spend half of our lives doing. But to what extent we care at work? According to my experience, people care to different limits and for different purposes. Some care to survive their daily needs. Others care to provide for their families. Few make it personal to compete and accomplish higher status either in a healthy or unhealthy way.

The caring at work needs to be looked at from a big picture thinking. The work we do, how does it contribute and serve the public? How does it make a difference in people lives? Does it leave an impact for the future generations? After asking these questions, if you couldn’t answer them, then you either need to consider changing your job or start an initiative in your spare time.

It is hard sometimes to realize your work is a routine and doesn’t contribute or make any difference. But taking full responsibility and ownership of our work and reflect on it can open doors for you and aspire you to new ideas.
