Start or Wait?

We have goals. We think of projects to start. We aspire to start businesses. But then we give ourselves excuses. I am not ready yet. I have a family. I am too busy. I am over committed to life responsibilities. I don’t have time.

We always give ourselves excuses in the form of stories. Sometimes, the only difficult stage is the starting. Once you start, the rest is history.

But what prevents us from starting? Is it our beleifs system? The stories we tell ourselves? The excuses we keep telling ourselves?

I think we got used to making ourselves so small, comfortable in our bubbles, happy with what we have and familiar with our daily routines. Change can be hard sometimes or most of the time.

I like this quote from Steve Jobs when he said: “If it was your last day living on this earth, will you continue doing what you do today?”. It gives me chills thinking you lead a life but haven’t done what you really want to do. Some are living life for the sake of living but not experiencing life. If we experience life and its wonders, what will we be doing?

Sometimes we look at the project or idea as a giant impossible task difficult to achieve. So we wait and delay to start. We confuse ourselves. We trick ourselves by saying we are not enough. We don’t know. We need time. We can’t start unless we know everything. So we delay. We postpone.

Reflecting on this and finding the truth is key. Really are you not ready? What is the next right move you can do today to start? What is really stopping you to start? Weigh the pros and cons of starting and waiting and then end of the page which option is best for you.
