Pain with Exercise

There is something that broke my heart today. It is watching my 3 years old son crying because of a new stretching movement applied by his paediatric physiotherapist. I was so worried, scared and rushed to him immediately.

I can’t deny that some exercises require you to go through some pain to get the relief and progress you need. But how could such a young age person understand that? For him that is torture, suffering and unfair.

What keeps me going in such moments is the future image when I see him doing fine, performing all his daily activities and progressing through his life stages.

I pray for all families with patients to hold on to hope, faith and belief. No matter the severity of illness your patient has, look out for the little tiny improvements that would be milestones later on. Don’t focus on the outcome but observe the journey and progress.
