Is it you or the world around you?

You cross many scenarios you think: It is you. There must be something wrong in you. You need to fix yourself. You need to be perfect. You need to be better. So you can fit in this messy world.

But why don’t you turn your perspective the other way around? What if it is the world that is getting messier day by day? What if it is the generational and cultural myth? What if it was the impact of everyone else doing the same thing and you believed that is normal?

The habit of blaming ourselves starts from a very young age. If you don’t take the choice to reflect on this mental habit, you could be overly stretched and overwhelmed daily.

Sometimes it is hard to ask this question. Because then you wonder: If I do this, I might lose the people I love. Well doing this reflective process doesn’t mean to abandon or reject the people close to you. It only entails that you look objectively at what you do, reflect, process and finally arrive at the meanings that personally make sense to you.

It is always smart to remove the people from the values and meanings we hold for ourselves. It is and will never be about that person. It is just the areas that make sense to you and the areas that don’t make sense. If the other person takes it personally, unfortunately that is not your baby to sooth.

So coming to you, what do you think? Is it really you or is it something else? Are you always the focus of attention or there is a bigger broad perspective and overall mental picture that you never thought of? Remember your humanity. You are not a super person who can do everything. You also have got human limits of what you can and can’t do. And that is ok.
