How to get out of your mental box?
Mental box is whatever beliefs, values and thoughts you have about yourself, people and the world. It tells you how to run your life. What you need to do for the day. What you need to avoid. How to be careful. How to maintain your security and safety. How to stay comfortable and avoid risky situations.
The problem with such mental boxes is that if we are not aware, it can restrict us from growth and personal transformation. If you want to grow in whatever area you choose in your life, the mental box you have will try to convince you its not a good idea. It will list for you all the reasons why you shouldn’t pursue that endeavor. It will show you all the possible negative outcomes that might happen.
Your awareness here is key. Is it really such a bad idea? I like this quote: if you continue doing what you do today, you will continue getting what you get today. So put regular awareness inside your internal world. What is going on there? What are you scared of? What is stopping you from pursuing that workout challenge? What prevents you from starting your business? What really scares you?
Then put your personal opinions there. Are your answers the truth or are they just a mental illusion, just a mental box where your mind is only trying to keep you safe, comfortable and secured? Your answers will tell you a lot and you would discover interesting things about yourself.
