Networking or Isolating?

With the available systems and structures we have such as the school system, career system, the structure of boss and employees and the hierarchy. All these facilitate the habit of people hiding and isolating rather than coming up and expressing themselves.

It is not easy to be in a relationship where you need to obey, follow and adhere. A lot of numbness and internal suppression happen here. This cause people to stay quite, follow with the process and execute the available procedures.

The problem with this set-up is it starts from a very young age. When I see students sitting in straight rows and the teacher is standing in front of them, instructing them, explaining to them, telling them what is this and what is that. It stresses a lot of invisible ideas. It signals you have to follow. It says students are inferior and the teacher is superior. It divides the relationship in such away that make the students fearful, scared and only follow with whatever teaching process delivered to them.

This is similarly what happens in organizations too. Once you start your career, you see the same thing. You have a boss. You have seniors and possibly other supervisors too. You gotta follow what you are being told. You can’t argue much. You gotta be careful because of the hierarchy and structure in the relationship. You have to maintain the peace to keep moving.

Such systems enforce people to hide, get isolated, keep quite or probably pretend and fake the behaviours to be liked and accepted by others.

I don’t advocate people to go against their bosses or become trouble makes. What I would rather encourage is people to have integrity and be honest with each other. So that the communications and transactions happen whether at work, home or wherever you are become truthful, clear and straight to the point without manipulations.
