All about fear!

What is fear? We are emotional beings. We easily get triggered with our emotions. Talking about fear, it is an emotion that we normally feel. You can see it in several areas of your life like when people are about to have a car accident. When a child is about to get hurt. When your loved one is suffering from a life threatening disease. Or probably the fear of doing something new.

Fear, if not talked about and processed regularly, can paralyze you and keep you stuck in one place. The fear also comes in different directions. It could be the fear of yourself. The fear to express yourself as you are. The fear to be seen and noticed. The fear to speak up. Another kind of fear also is when you are around people. The fear to be judged. The fear to be blamed. The fear to be criticized. The fear to be talked about negatively. Or the fear to not be accepted as an individual.

Fear is a mental interpretation. How you learned to understand and process things from a very young age. For instance, when you did mistakes when you were a child and you were blamed and judged heavily, probably you translated that to fear of doing mistakes today. Because you don’t want to be judged, blamed and rejected. You took it so personally. That is only one example of a childhood event turning to a fearful thought controlling our lives today. You can also think of other examples too.

Understanding our fear and where it comes from can shed a lot of awareness and light. If you are confused, not sure, lost in life or just don’t know the meaning of your life, it is interesting to do this process and understand your feelings.

Let us use an example to see how processing of fear happens:

The fear of starting a business for example. You want to start. But you hesitate. You go back. You think you are not ready. Although you read several books and watched many episodes, still you think you are not ready. You are worried of doing mistakes. You fear failure. You take it personally. You fear people judging you. You fear it may not work out. You think you are not enough in skills, knowledge and experience. You look at it as a giant task impossible to acheive. You predict the worst thing can happen.

Then you get paralyzed. You can’t take action. You can’t make a decision. You stop in one place. Then you ask: Is this an illusion? Is this real? Is my fear valid or an illusion? Is it really about starting the business or is it something else? What is really stopping you? What hinders you from starting? Knowing you have got the tools and skills, if not now then when?

This is just a short processing example of fear. You can make it long or short depending on the level of your fear. All the best reflecting and processing your fear.
