Your Emotional Wellbeing

What is our emotional wellbeing? The common idea learned from the environment and culture around us is to hide our emotions, act strong and tough and that expressing our emotions is considered as a weakness.

The medical world from my personal experience doesn’t consider our emotional wellbeing when checking our physical symptoms and prescribing us the pills. It just aims to fix the symptoms and ignore the root cause.

We are emotional creatures and we are driven by our emotions daily. We feel scared, anxious, happy, sad, excited, depressed and other emotions too. That can affect our physical bodies and our internal systems. How we take care of our emotions can have a significant impact on our health and wellbeing. For instance, the day to day life, if we start our days centred and grounded, the business of our daily schedules wouldn’t overtake us. If we pause often and reflect, our physical breathing, heart beat and blood pressure would be functioning in a balanced way.

But you might be asking: How can I take care of my emotional wellbeing? Well there is no one best way of how to do this. It depends on your preference and what gravitates to your emotions best.

According to my personal taste, I am often pulled towards nature. Walking on the side lines of the beach, feeling the water and sand tickling my feet and listening to the sea waves are some of the activities I like.

Also a type of music can influence how you feel in a particular moment. If you enjoy soft music or fast and if you have a favourite time listening to music, alone or with another person , its all about your peference and liking.

The self-care part also contributes towards our emotional wellbeing. How you take care of yourself, your hygeine, your looks and appearance, your lifestyle and your home and environment can influence your emotions.

If I forget myself in the business of life and miss my workouts or going to the beauty parlour or doing my favourite hobbies, I would feel gloomy, moody and can easily get triggered.

So these are areas you can check and if you have other parts in your life that brings you inner joy, calmness and peace, it is worth to try it out to recover your suppressed emotions and uplift your emotional wellbeing.
