Worried what you will eat tomorrow?

We live in a time zone where majority focus on materials, things, money and surviving. You hear people talk about money, promotion, updating lifestyles and mostly materialistic conversations.

Most interestingly, the thread of fear and worry is noticeable in these conversations. Typical comments like: How much money left for my petrol? My salary is not enough. I barely survive the whole month until I get my monthly paycheck.

You see people obsessed about money budgeting, finance controlling and the idea of money not enough.

Then when I remember those recites from the Holy Book of Quran when Maryam, peace and blessings be upon her, always had fruits whenever the messenger Zakariya comes to her. Then he asked her: From where did you get it? She replied: It is from Allah who rewards us without account.

But then our thoughts and conversations are not aligned with these enlightening recites. You see people scared what they would eat tomorrow, worried of their ability to provide for their families and concerned about living and surviving life.

Because of the habitual existence that we got used to, we think it is us who provide for our families. It is us who work hard and get paid. It is us who do the grocery shopping and feed our families.

We forget it is actually Allah who feeds us, enables us to work, provides us with means and ways to support our families. We forget that important reminder.

And because of that, when we cross through turmoil like lack of money, increasing demands of our families or loss of precious assets, we complain, judge and blame.

We forget whatever situations we pass by in life are actually a test. We are being tested internally and externally. How are we going to react. What are we going to say. How are we going to react towards each other. And whether we would remember Allah and refer back to his divinity and wisdom.

So if you catch yourself next time worried and cautious of money, expenses and income, just refer to the recites in Quran about our living, existence and purpose in this short life time. Whatever struggle and mental pressure you have, it is always your choice to declutter them all and hold on to that permanent ever lasting relationship you have with Allah.
