Stepping into the unknown

Facing a sudden crisis. Starting a new venture. Moving into a different country. Having a rare illness. All these events create tension and feelings of nervousness, doubt, worry and anxiety.

Normally we prefer to figure out things. We like to know it earlier. We predict scenarios and outcomes. We create forecasts of the future. I remember my daughter’s worry when she said: Mama, what if it was the end of the world and I didn’t get a chance to live a life and have my family? Thinking about the future and its unpredictable scenarios can take away our chance to live in the present moment.

Planning for the future and preparing is a good thing. But to get lost there and overthink of what could happen can create overwhelm and unnecessary pain.

So while stepping into the unknown, instead of worrying and overthinking about it, what if we take it as a one baby step at a time? What if we let go of the internal struggle and let the natural flow of life do its magic? What if we release our resistance and replace it with faith and hope? Stepping into the unknown can be overwhelming and confusing at times but creating the space for clarity and acceptance can ease it and make it simple.

At the end, the unknown from the outside could look scary at the beginning. But from the inside, it could carry miracles, surprises and possible freedom.
