Reconnecting with your parent
Life has got several stages. Each stage contains its own unique flavour and taste.
Interestingly, our relationships with our parents evolve and change over time. At the beginning, we used to be dependent on them in terms of food, clothing, shelter, safety and security. Then we grow up, leave their caring nests and go ahead with creating our own individualized lives.
Then you find your parent has grown old, weak, vulnerable and delicate. There you see your relationship towards your parent evolving to become more of a caring, supporting and nurturing.
One part of me is sad and affectionate to experience my parent’s situation. Another part is eager and excited to reconnect with my parent on a deeper and meaningful level and have those thought provoking conversations.
Appreciate each stage you cross by in that child-parent relationship. In some stages, you find yourself distanced from your parent, missing and longing to reconnect. But in other stages, you find yourself immersed in the nurturing and caring role towards your parent and the connection and bonding just automatically come along.
