Learning the Emotional Vocabulary
If you lived in an environment where people hardly care or rarely recognise and see each other genuinely, then today you may probably find hard times to experience emotional intimacy.
I see this happen in situations where you are expected to express emotional care but you can’t because you actually didn’t experience it in the past. So you have no clue or idea about it.
This is the time to ask ourselves: What an emotional vocabulary looks like? How can I genuinely care? How to express emotional intimacy to our loved ones without feeling aukward?
There is another opposite direction to this as well. If you lived in a context where you walked on egg shells all the time and had to prove yourself to get the attention and care, then today you might be emotionally ungrounded. You maybe saying yes all the time and have no personal boundaries for yourself. You may also have no idea of your personal needs and priorities and you are just after satisfying other people emotions.
