Floating Experience
Finally I can’t believe it. During the last swimming lesson we had, the coach admired my movement in the water.
I managed to float and maintain my floating position without my feet touching the ground.
That was an amazing experience. Although I swallowed the water accidently several times, I was swimming, kicking, sculpting and stroking successfully.
I also trusted the water. My panic and stress reduced. I was more relaxed in the water and my movements were slow and efficient.
To me this was not easy and straightforward. I had to be patient and still with myself. The coach was also understanding and compassionate when I refuse to swim towards the deep end.
Lastly, to all the new beginner adults who have interest in swimming, take your time to learn. There is no rush here. The water is there for you and not against you. Don’t fight or resist it. Be with it. Trust it. Understand its jelly texture. And accordingly work with it with patience, trust, faith, persistence and resilience.
